MCAS is the Massachusetts standardized assessment system meant to comply with the Education Reform Law of 1993 and the No Child Left Behind Law. The assessments are used to test all public school students based on standard minimum state curriculum requirements (available on the DOE website). Reports of student, school, and school districts are made available to the public by the DOE to hold schools and districts accountable for student achievement with regards to the No Child Left Behind Law. Depending on grade level, tests are administered in the following subjects:
  • English Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science and Technology/Engineering
  • History and Social Science
Additional tests and subjects will be added over time.

Most tests this Spring are scheduled for March (English) and May (Math, Science, History and Social Science). High School Science is scheduled for June. The official schedule can be found at the DOE website.

Prior MCAS tests for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are now configured for your use in Socrato. The tests are organized by grade year (6, 7, and 8), and include Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science and Technology/Engineering, and History and Social Science. In all there are over 1000 MCAS questions available from 27 previous tests. In the coming weeks we will be adding additional tests from other grades, including the Grade 10 tests and the High School tests.

Benefits of Preparation at Socrato

Socrato is designed to focus your test preparation and make test preparation more efficient. After completing your session you are able to review your results, see the analysis, and practice any combination of questions. For example, if you didn't finish all the questions in a test, you can select the "leftovers" for your next test to finish what you started. Or you can re-take just the questions you got wrong.

If you only want to practice a test with a few questions at a time, we recommend that you go to the Test Detail screen (click on the Quiz Name/Description in the available tests list), and then choose "Take Now" at your desired section in the "Section Breakdown" area at the bottom of the page.

Please give us feedback to let us know how we're doing or what you'd like to see improved.

Enjoy!
