| |
• What Is Socrato? |
|
| |
Socrato is a place to make your learning effort easier and
more productive. We will show you how you should be spending your precious
study time based on your goals.
The word Socrato is a play on the name of the ancient Greek philospher
Socrates - the creator of the Socratic teaching method and a teacher of
another great philosopher, Plato. For more information on Socrates and the
Socratic method we recommend you go to www.wikipedia.com. |
|
| |
• How does Socrato differ from other types of web-based learning sites? |
|
| |
Most other learning tools replicate pencil and paper learning processes. Socrato brings the power of computing and data analysis to your studies. We constantly analyze your learning patterns, quantify your strengths and weaknesses and allow you to customize your practice session based on your goals. |
|
| |
• Who runs Socrato? |
|
| |
The Socrato team is composed of students, teachers, entrepreneurs, technologists and few full time programmers who are looking to improve the learning and study process. |
|
| |
• Where did you get the idea for Socrato? |
|
| |
The idea originated when one of the kids in the family was preparing for the SAT. She was wasting lots of time analyzing what needs to be done next. Her frustated parent looked for some software / automated solution in the market place and did not find one. So they built their first prototype with the help of teachers, tutors and students. After few name changes and lots of effort Socrato has developed into its current state. |

1.3 Using Socrato |
|
| |
1.3.1 Taking Tests |
|
| |
• What is the difference between “Practice” and “Review” modes? |
|
| |
In “Practice Mode” you can answer all the questions, skip around, go backwards and forwards in the test, all without a time limit. You can also opt to view a timer while you’re practicing. To select this option, click on the checkbox next to “Click to show timer.”
In “Review Mode” you are only able to read the questions (and answers if you choose to check this option). You are not able to answer the questions. This mode is meant for people who want to skim through the questions on the test without actually testing themselves. This is useful for people who want to see what is covered on a particular test in order to study or prepare for the test. |
|
| |
• How can I mix and match questions from different quizzes? |
|
| |
From the test list page, you can select more than one test. Then click on the button, “Take Test.” You will create a combination test that includes questions from all the tests you selected. |

|
| |
From the “My Tests” tab, click on the link “My Test Results” in the upper left corner. Then click on the checkbox next to the quiz you want to select and click the button “View Questions.” This will take you to a page which lists every question on that quiz. |
| |

For more detail on your score you can click on the “My Tests” tab, and then click the link “My Test Results” in the upper left corner. For every test you have taken you will find in the table a tally of all the questions you got right, the number you skipped, left over, and simply got wrong.
