The ACT, short for American College Testing, is a standardized college admissions test in the United States produced by ACT, Inc. It is similar to the SAT Reasoning Test, by the College Board, in that it is accepted as a standard by many colleges and universities for determining a student’s aptitude in four areas: English, Mathematics, Science, and Reasoning and Reading. An optional writing test is also part of the ACT since early 2005.

The Socrato software is a learning analytics tool that allows students and educators to process their results and answers from the ACT test. While the software does allow students to input their responses directly into the Socrato system via a bubblesheet interface or via upload, no official questions are displayed on the software as they are the copyright of the ACT, Inc.

Socrato has created a lot of information (meta-data) for each question and answer behind the scenes that allows us to provide detailed insight on the difficulty, accuracy and other trends at the question and subject area level which helps students quickly create individualized learning plans to study efficiently and improve their scores.

Socrato diagnostic reports for the ACT test come with a series of charts and graphs that provide a detailed analysis of a students performance for the test as a whole as well as for each subject area. Organizations of different sizes have different needs when it comes to processing tests and Socrato has created several methods for processing tests. Choose the one that matches your business’ or organization’s needs best:

• Online Bubble sheet processing: Socrato has online “smart” bubblesheets that can be used to capture student answer responses. Students can use the online bubble sheets while taking the test or after their test is completed on paper.
• Bulk upload: A lot of our customers are able to produce a digital output of their student response data. Using Socrato’s upload tool they can process all student responses.
• Scanner Services: Since a lot of K-12 and admissions prep tests are still paper and pencil based, student responses are captured on paper bubblesheets. Socrato has created a utility cum service that allows you to process tests in bulk using a conventional office scanner.

The Socrato software has the capability for students to practice tests online. However the copyright of official ACT tests belongs to the ACT.org. Socrato does not host, sell or distribute any copyrighted ACT tests or questions.

An official book is available to students from the ACT, which includes real practice tests and you can purchase that directly from the official ACT.org site, or from Amazon.com. You can use the Socrato online bubble sheets in conjunction with the officially purchased content to process your tests.

If you have a custom test you have developed for ACT practice, you can upload that onto the Socrato platform for your students to practice. All tests are private unless a customer has explicitly given Socrato permission to share it with other customers.
